Voil\u00e0 ce qu&rsquo;on peut appeler un ciel : voil\u00e0 des eaux transparentes, et tous ces groupes, ce sont autant de petits tableaux vrais et caract\u00e9ristiques du local ; les figures en sont du dessin le plus correct. Comme la touche en est spirituelle et l\u00e9g\u00e8re ! Qui est-ce qui entend la perspective a\u00e9rienne mieux que cet homme-l\u00e0 ?<br>Regardez le Port de la Rochelle avec une lunette qui embrasse le champ du tableau et qui exclue la bordure, et, oubliant tout \u00e0 coup que vous examinez un morceau de peinture, vous vous \u00e9crierez, comme si vous \u00e9tiez plac\u00e9 en haut d\u2019une montagne, spectateur de la nature m\u00eame : \u00ab Oh le beau point de vue ! \u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">Denis Diderot , <em>Salons <\/em>1763.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Le commerce rochelais en 1764.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans les ann\u00e9es 1764 et 1765 qui suivirent la guerre de Sept- ns, la Rochelle exp\u00e9dia 58 navires pour les colonies d&rsquo;Am\u00e9rique et 5 seulement pour la c\u00f4te d&rsquo;Afrique, soit ensemble 63 navires portant 12 475 tonneaux<sup>1<\/sup>. L&rsquo;exportation pour les colonies, pendant ces deux ann\u00e9es, a \u00e9t\u00e9 estim\u00e9e se monter \u00e0 2 800 215 livres et, pour la c\u00f4te d&rsquo;Afrique (Guin\u00e9e), \u00e0 534 513 livres ; soit ensemble 3 334 728 livres. Il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu\u2019il vient d\u2019armer pour la troisi\u00e8me fois ledit navire pour aller faire la traite des Noirs en Afrique, qu\u2019il l\u2019a charg\u00e9 de marchandises n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 ce voyage : \u00e9quipages, cordages, toiles, vivres\u2026 Il en a confi\u00e9 le commandement au sieur Charles Tourneur, capitaine du navire qui le m\u00e8nera.
